Improving your environment: Ergonomics

Problem

I find myself (like most other digital arts students) hunched over a computer for a large portion of my day. Most of which is spent in a hunched over a desk in a less than desirable position. Therefore I think it is safe to say that this aspect of my environment is problematic. I hope to look deeper into this issue and understand it better through Ergonomics. Ergonomics is the study of the relationship between a workplace environment and the equipment used to complete a task.

Symptoms

1.Fatigue
2. Claustrophobia
3. Hindered work performance
4. Distraction

Approach

I hope to tackle this issue by first understanding why we use products that are rarely adjustable and don't accommodate the human form better. Then I think it is necessary to look at what is being done currently to improve the ergonomic performance of products used on a day-to-day basis. Finally I hope to fully integrate this research into a product that has overall better ergonomic performance.
