DIY bowl out of old records (demo)

For this quick little project you will need the following:

1) vinyl record

2) Oven

3) oven safe bowl (preferably one smaller than the diameter of the record)

4) cookie sheet

STEP 1:

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and arrange the bowl and record on top of the cookie sheet like the photo.

STEP 2:

When oven is at 200, place the the items inside and set a timer for 5 minutes.

STEP 3:

After 5 minutes, take the bowl and record out of the oven and place the record quickly inside the now upturned bowl. Press the bottom of the record into the bowl and shape the malleable vinyl to the interior walls of the metal bowl to give it shape.

STEP 4:

Wait a minute or so for the vinyl to cool and then remove it from the metal bowl. You should now have a rigid and "hand crafted" bowl without ever touching a potters wheel.

Without getting toooooo into the inner workings of the pillars, we have been able to get some major work done! The motor works well with the light source.......and we now have all amplifiers built, tested, and functional! Here are some pictures and video of what our work sessions look like. "thank you" brainstorm: progress made!

Serious progress has been made today! As a group Drew, Diane, and I with the yoda like guidance of John met up and came up with the over-arching direction of the project. My duties lie in the audio portion of the project and looking at the phrase "thank you" in a digital/audio format. I recorded some initial thank you samples to look at the waveform. My results are below!

Papercraft has become very popular in the last couple of years. Usually it's small little cute figures and what not, but this 3D artist has taken it one....no, more like 100 steps further. Check out his amazing papercraft 3D self-portrait.

I present to you The UKNO Project

This past week and weekend has been a busy one. Creating the site has been surprisingly a smooth process and I am very happy with the finished product. I took into consideration the advice of some classmates to change the UKNO logo and I think they were dead on. The new logo reads well and works with the rest of the site (see pics below for logo process.....) the website contains most of the information about my project and links to my personal blog.

work progress

I have now gathered and consolidated the majority of the statistical information that I need for this project. Over the past two days I have started to create the "info-graphics" with minimal hick-ups. I plan on having about 10-15 of these images created and placed within a website by the project due-date.
